My dad is a city planner. My brother is an architect. I am a photographer with a love for photographing architecture. I guess you could say we have a common interest.

My dad (75) is sick. For the moment his situation has stabilised, but we don’t know how long we have. So, for his birthday we gave him a a last road trip with us. It was Tijmen who came up with the idea: to do a trip that would engage us with some transcendental architecture, and allow us to have meaningful conversation.

Any photo set of Berlin needs to include with a photo of the Fernsehturm (TV tower). On the right a photo of my two brothers and my dad. I am the eldest of four children. Next is my sister, who did not join us for this trip. Then comes my brother Tijmen, 6 years younger) who is a self-employed architect. Last is my brother Douwe, 10 years younger, who has a degree in Law.

My dad’s sickness means he is not very mobile. Because we were going to do a lot of walking Tijmen rented a wheel chair. My dad is a good sport and allowed us to have our fun with him. We wrapped him up warmly in a blanket from our apartment!
